  • Patrick Ryan’s father was Joseph Ryan of ‘Langdale’, O’Connell.

  • Patrick was a labourer.

Service:

  • Enlisted in the 54th Battalion

  • Sailed on the Aeneas on 30 September 1916

  • Disembarked in Plymouth, England, then proceeded to France to fight in 1917

  • Awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field on 25 May 1917

  • He was later transferred to the 56th Battalion.

  • Returned to Australia on 9 August 1919
